I have never heard of a Briggs and stratton tractor I have heve been around most brands of lawn tractors, I even work for a time in a lawn mower shop. Whay you are looking it is probably another brand lawn tractor with a briggs engine in it. Also most all the companys used then at one time or another even JD

Interesting, does it say Briggs & Stratton on the tractor anyplace other than the engine ?? I recently saw a news blurb that Briggs was introducing a line of push mowers under the Briggs & Stratton name, saying that people have thought for years that their MTD or other brand mowers were Briggs & Stratton because of the name on the engine. Is it a nearly new machine? The news blurb said nothing about Briggs & Stratton getting into the larger rider mowers.

Briggs in Rider mower business? A article in the busines section of Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal about 2 weeks back indicated that Briggs was supporting and continueing the Simplicity name- Briggs had bought Simplicity, manufactered in Wisconsin, in 2004, 'High end Simplicity dealers were not a direct competition with other OEMs that Briggs sold engines to so there was not a major conflict'. Article noted that 'Murray', aquired from bankruptcy proceedings was not expected to be supported, Briggs was evaluating assets from Murray Tennesee factory, and stated that they were tentatively not planning continueing Murray production or support of dealers. Seems Briggs is in the large lawn and garden business now.
