About to buy my first tractor. So far am seriously considering a Ford 5000, Oliver 1250, or an International B275. Anybody have any opinions on any of these. They all seem in decent condition considering their age.

Thanks for the advice guys. Sounds like the Ford 5000 is worth a closer look. Forgot to ask what you also think of the MF 165 compared to the Ford 5000.

The 165 compairs to the 4000 ford at 52 HP verses about 67 for the 5000, these HP vary with year and gas or deisel

Condition is everything on tractors that old, but the 5000 is by far the most tractor of the three. The B-275 is quite old & it an the 1250 are smaller than the Ford. The 5000 has an excellent reputation.

I would stay away from that model of IH. Had a few of them around years back and to call them junk would be bragging them up. The other two are both good but, my choice would be the Ford.

In the UK a Ford 5000 has become a very desirable model which has seen a huge increase in value over the last couple of years. I dont know much about the other models. Most 5000 are rapidly exported from the UK hense the interest they creat when they come up for sale. Should be fairly powerful but not as much low down power as say an International 634 etc.

Ford 5000 if it is a diesel, is the best choice of the 3, hands down. The Oliver and International are foreign made tractors, and are harder to get parts for.

If the IHC and Oliver are foreign made then all 3 are because all the blue series 2,3,4,5000 were made in England but the Ford is a good tractor, had a 68 5000 & 65 4000 & 68 4000
