Belaras starter rebuild?

Would any auto shop that rebuilds starters be able to rebuild a Belarus starter? I am not sure what type of starter it is. We have two new batteries and the engine cranks over to slow to fire. The selanoid just makes a high pitched buzzing noise. Then the battery cable to the selanoid get hot. Am I on the right track with the starter? Thanks for all your help.

What size engine?A lot of those had parallel switches on them that were prone to trouble.

This tractor is tagged under another Mfg. The engine model is a D21A. The newer engine model is a D120. It is the same as the Belarus 240 as near as I can find out. Thanks again for everyones help.

Check your ground connections well,on the Belarus tractor they used a ground disconnect switch and it would sometimes have a bad ground where the switch mounted.Make sure the switch is tight.

Sounds like the right track.
You figure the the current is going thru the cable, thru the solinoid, and likely grounding out thru the armature because of bad bearings maybe. Or something like that.
I can't see why a auto mechanic can't take a look at it. He might have a hard time to get parts for it. But if the shop is into rebuilds then they should have all the contacts. It should just be a high torque series wound DC motor.

Do you mean the hand crank? Actually a friend of mine used to have a Belarus dealership and still uses one of the tractors. Another neighbor has one with over 3000 hours and has had very few problems. It starts good and uses very little fuel. The rest of the electrical system has problems though.
