Four. Remember both of these tractors are built for casual consumer usage, not industrial duty.

Depends on what you want it for. I once had a 73'Ford 4000 2wd 52hp with a industrial front in loader and tried to use it for general landscaping in the yard. No Good. Tractor was to big and to heavy. Sure it would plow a field all day long and pull the house off of its foundation, but you try to level someones front yard with it and all you will have is a big mess. Smaller compact 4wd drive tractors are built ideally for this situation. They are lighter and more nimble plus the 4wd allows you to manuver around with minimal disturbance to the ground, and helps get you through sticky spots, but dont go trying to run a baler or pull a 7 row plow with one, they just ain't built for it.

I guess it would depend on the tractors in question. I have a JD 750 4wd and just dragged a disabled old JD B up a big hill. The place that B came from had a Ford 861 and it was spinning all over trying to pull it up a little hill.Once you have a tractor with 4x4 you don't know how you got along spinning your wheels without it.

Go with the 2 wheel drive. The benifit is having 15 more horses to work with. The 4wd 20 horse tractor is still a 20 horse tractor, and any load you put on it (in conditions where most people use 4wd) you would have to dig 4 wheels out of the ground instead of 2.

I would get an older 2 wd unit. These tractors are much heavier built than the tractors of today. you can also find them for much less and when compared to the price of a new one, you can completely restore an older one. If you are not gonna use it much, I would get a gas, much easier to keep running, the diesels can have problems with seals in the pumps and engines. Hope you find what you need. Don't choose by color, go by what can be serviced in your area and what best fits your needs. Good luck

Being that far south and with level ground, I would spend my money on more horse with two wheel drive. And, of course, buy GREEN! : )

I"d suggest a real tractor in the 40 hp range rather that one of those little toy 4 wheel drive things.

It'd help to know where you are so weather conditions could be considered.

For the land you've got get 2 wheel drive unless you'll be digging a long tunnel then I'd get 4 wheel.
