Gentleman...I was wondering if it is possible to change out the trans input/output shaft pilot bearing of a Farmall H through the top with the belt pully unit removed. Of course the drive shaft is disconnected...any thoughts??? Randy

By an unhappy coincidence I have the cover off mine right now. It looks like you could pull the shaft out the front to replace the bearing. It might be as much trouble as taking the cover off though, by the time you get that bolt off the end and line things up again. Doesn't seem like it would hurt anything to try, worst case you'll end up taking the top off anyway.

Randy,

I think the easiest way is to drop that belly pump and come up thru the bottom, isn't it?

Gives you a little room to work that way.

Allan

Allen...I wasn't referring to the clutch/flywheel pilot bearing...I was referring to the input/output shaft where they join under the trans cover. I've changed several with the cover off, I was wondering if anyone had "pulled a rabbit out of their hat" and had changed one with the cover on.
