If you are filling from a storage tank into your tractor, is the tank stood level or is it sloping slightly? Should slope towards end away from normal outlet and have means to drain at other end as diesel tank will always condensate. You may also have a pin hole leak on the tank top?
If that is not the problem, fill your tractor tank completely to prevent condensation possibility between use (you do not say how often this problem occurs - daily or monthly). Otherwise, check what you are putting in (eg. water may be in your fill can) check for ingress possibilities on tractor tank etc. Basically, find the source, then fix it.

Dan,

I agree with T-bone. If you're draining off water, you are the one pourin' it in there in the first place.

Might wanna switch dealers?

Get some water paste from your fuel supplier or at a good hardware store and put some on a clean stick of wood and dip it to the bottom of your storage tank. If there is water there the paste will turn purple. If the tank can breath it can get condensation in it. Also check for any place rain might get in. Put a water seperating filter on the fuel hose.

Hi Daniel,

Clean #2 diesel contains 500ppm of water contained with-in the fuel according ASTM standards. No free water!

At 1000ppm or greater of water content, then you will have free water or water that can be drained from the fuel.

You clearly have fuel that has alot of free water. I would drain and clean the tank. Change the fuel filter(s) then put in new clean diesel. A fuel filter has the ability to absorb a small quanity of water out of diesel before free water occurs.

The dirty diesel can be settled out over time. The water will settle to the bottom of the container with the oil on top. This takes a long time, maybe 6mths.

You can add a air supply in the bottom of the container and bubble out the water. I can't tell you how long but probably a couple weeks.

I would also change where you buy or how you store your fuel as you have a huge problem with your diesel supply.
