I just acquired my first "old tractor" ... a Ford 900. I've ordered an operator's manual ... but until it comes can anybody tell me how (where) to add engine oil? I see what appears to be an oil breather cap ... but no clear means to add oil ... and let's face it, there aren't too many places it can be.

By now you've found your oil fill location. Here's another tip: note the size of the drain plug. When you pull that baby the oil is gonna come out in a hurry. Be sure to have a nice wide mouth bucket under there. I tried to use a fancy automotive oil receptical that had a wide splash pan but funneled into a 1" diameter opening. I had oil all over the floor!

On the right side, near front. Simple pull-off breather cap. If you have power steering, it is below/ under the steering pump, the 2 hoses kinda circle it.

You're probably looking at the breather in the side of the valve cover. That's not where you pour in your oil. The oil filler is near the front of the engine on the right-hand side. There should be a pipe sticking out with a breather cap on it. Pull straight up to remove the cap.

When you change your oil, you may find that the drain plug is all buggered up to the point where you can't remove it with a Crescent wrench. Check out the condition of the plug before you get started; if it looks bad, go buy another one first (from New Holland). You should be able to get the plug out with a pipe wrench unless it's in really bad shape.

Not real sure so this is a guess, but if like my 801 its will be up front on the engine right habd side. Probably the oil breather you saw, it will pull off. It maybe a little hard to pull but should come off. Thats where the engine oil goes
