Having a problem with a 6 volt regulator. I went all the way thru the posts (7-20 & 7-21) and thought I had it licked. Problem now is that it either puts out 100% (43 amps) or nothing. Did I burn it out or just not patient enough ? Really appreciate some help. (Regulator is in a really obnoxious place to get to ! ) Thanks.
Rick

Sounds to me like the voltage regulator relay points are welded closed. This would cause full field current to provide max amperage until the current regulator relay detected high current output and then would open causing zero output. Then it would reset and repeat the cycle.

That"s the way it"s acting. Guess I might as well tear it down and pull it out. Thanks for the response. Was hoping it was just me but sounds more like it"s fried.
