Went to a tractor show over the weekend that seemed to be short on tractors etc. This show has been going on for about 35 yrs. Just wandered if this would be due to the price of fuel ? Is anyone else noticing this ? Several displays were missing too that has been there as long as I can remember .

I believe the price of fuel is having some effect on attendace at events. We are being selective in shows & parades to attend this year. Filling up the tractor & truck to get to the event and participate is cutting into the budget. Even our local tractor pulls are light in attendance. However, the car events seem to keep drawing large crowds. The recent Syracuse Nationals drew over 6000 entries over 4 days and the local cruise-ins are drawing big numbers.

Maybe the contenders grew old or just got tired and decided to do something else. I fished all my life and about 5 years ago just got tired of it. Took up old iron instead as a hobby. Haven't missed it atol.

What Txgrn said plus the price of fuel is part of it. The numbers seem to be down at alot of shows and antique pulls. Folks just aren't going as far or as often as in years past.

That and it seems like more and more shows are charging higher fees to have a spot to park your exhibit. I went to a show saturday and noticed a huge decline in attendence. The spectators are declining in numbers dramaticly too.
