I just bought my neighbors f250 diesel with 81,000 original miles yesterday. I know these didn't have a turbo, or much of a computer, but I was still wondering if anyone knew if turning up the injector pump would help, or just make my milage bad, and if a 4" exhaust would help any?
Anyone know any other tricks? Or any thing to make the tranny (e40D)any better?
Thanks, Andrew

You bought that red truck huh? It is a nice truck, want a cheap remedy? Swap out the ring and pinion for a lower gear ratio, if the engine runs good, just do that, think about it,,, you go turning up the pump or what ever, you lose fuel milage right? smokes, can wash out the rings and put diesil in the oil, can cause more headaches than what its worth. Ever see my F-350? Now thats a good truck now,, 7.3, 5 speed with a 4.56 rear end, yeah it goes bout 65 top end, but heck, I pull trailer with it, and you know those ol H's can git heavy sometimes,,, I betcha, you could find an overdrive automatic, put in a low gear rear axle, add a tranny cooler, and that would wake up that truck with less headaches than messing up the pump. Wanna see, come down and drive my Dually,,, you would think the front tires would leave the ground in first and second and third if you floored it,, oh,, and take care of the mosquitos too,, LMAO!! I"m not sure which bulletin board John and Willy were complaining about, but I"m with tugboat tim, the Powerstroke Only board at freeautoadvice.com is visited by several helpful gents that know alot about these trucks, not just supering them up.

I do not know how they are for the older Ford Diesels, but for the true 7.3 PowerStrokes and the 6.0 liter, it has to be one of the biggest sources of complete idiocy on the internet. 99 per cent of the 'posters' are either high school Harrys dreaming of their "ultimate" truck, wanna-bee truck drivers, or as***es who have put chips or other modifications on their vehicles, and now are mad at Ford because Ford will not honor the warranty and pay for the damages they have done. You would be better off asking your dog for the answers to your questions than to expect any kind of intelligent responce from that website.

AMEN! And moderators aint no better either, its either their way or no way! Im so tired of the constant bickering betweem mods and posters, and the knocking of other products other than site sponsors' products. I made one mod feel stupid last year soemtime and he banned me until I talked to ,what is his name Jason, who let me back on and gave the mod a spanking. I seldom even go there anymore.
