I'm not wanting to start any one kind is better fight but my 80 some yo neighbor just came down. He has about the nicest 1979 IH 1086 there is. It only has 2150 one owner hours. It has never set out, has duals, cab heat & air He quit farming this year & wants to sell it & other machinery including a White 549 5 x 18 auto reset plow that only plowed about 300 acres. He had a auctioneer tell him only to expect around 10,000 for the 1086 & 500 for the plow. What do you think they should bring & where's the best place to advertise something like that? I only deal in antique tractors & don't know about the newer ones

I saw a real nice 1086 sell last Sunday for $8000. Had around 4000 hours on it. Around here plows don't seem to bring much more than scrap price.

There is going to be a sale near here in a week. There will be two extra clean 1086 tractors on the sale. One has a little less than 3000 hours the other one 3047. I think that plow around here would be lucky if it brought $200. Plows here are a dead item unless it is a 6 or 7 bottom with an on land hitch. However A local jockey has two of them and he has had them for over a year. Plowing is a thing of the past in this area.

That 1086 should do well over 14000and them plows should do 950 to 1250 . Or you could try and by them from him for the 10500 and make a couple bucks I'll talk to you later .

$500 for the plow is tops. The $10000 for the tractor is a good price and he should get that. Here in Western, Pa., it would have to be a nice tractor for that price. It is hard to say where it would sell the quickest. It is all a matter of finding a buyer. I have a 1486 in about the same shape and I can't get $7000 for it, so go figure.

Machinerylink.com prices a premium 1086 at $11031

We have a 1086 w/1486 engine in it and aftermarket MFWD. The rest of our tractors are green. We own it because it was very cheap horsepower. Seems even the IH guys didn't like them because the shifter was on the "wrong" side if the tractor. Guess the short wheelbase wasn't liked either. My neighbor is diehard IH. 30some models from F20 to 5488. Doesn't own one 86 series and he says it'll stay that way. I never minded ours. Pulled circles around the 4640 with that MFWD.

Be real lucky to get that for the plow. No trash clearance, not worth much. A 589 would bring maybe $1200.

The tractor, that is about what an average one goes for. I'd put that one in the 12000-13000 range - without seeing it. :)

This is southern MN prices. Different strokes for different regions.

That sounds nice! Boy here is as good a place as I've seen to advertise. You might mention it in the Red Power site too Larry. Hey I got a dandy set of steel all around for a 29 D JD or great cut offs (Both flat spoke fronts). Not sure which to put on the old Girl. If you find someone needs one or the other sets let me know.
