There's a M.F. 1800 with a CAT 3106 (4500hrs) coming up for auction in Sept. Are these good tractors , any problem areas ? Thanks in advance.

Double check that engine. There were a few 1800 and a few more 1805 models around here. The 1805 has the 3 point. They have a Cat 3208 engine which is a V-8. Not sure what a Cat 3106 is as in the Cat way they had a 3116 which was replaced by the 3126 which are six cylinder engines.

Our 1800 has a V8 and I know it isn't the 3208 and it seems like it is a 3106 going off memory. 210 horse without turbo just like a 3208. Far as I know it was just a predesesor to the 3208.

We have one, great tractor for muck since they are so light. Only problems we have had are with the rubber bushings that are in the shaft that connect the engine to the tranny and the brakes have a few broken parts and we can't find any replacements that are any better. One thing to check is the orbital motors behind the engine that are for the hydraulics and steering, ours had the mounting holes wore and kept throwing the belts. All in all a great tractor.

PS... run the engine at high rpms, like around 2000-2800, it is better for those Cat's than to lug them.
