All, Went to a NH dealer to get a part and looked at medium sized NH tractors. TC55 made in Mexico and is a modified Fiat design. Some of the castings look the same as my 1980 Long. TN 75 made in Italy and is different design. Nice cab on TN75. A TL100 was made in Great Britain. Stopped at John Deere dealer to window shop. Asked where 5103, 5203 and 5303 were made. He said they were assembled in Augusta, GA. Engine from Mexico, transmission from India, hydraulic pump from SC, front axle from somewhere else. Most here may already know this, but I thought I would pass it on. I hear thunder and I cut hay today!

We have a 25 year old Cat D5 crawler that was made in France. Some years ago Cat were marketing Challengers in Europe as Clause. It sure is a funny old world.

Thanks for replies. I wasn't passing judgement on the manufacturers, just passing on information. I'm not even sure when the last small-medium Fords were built here, I think the 3cyl 3000-4000s started out being built in England, but I could be wrong. Don't know about JD either, maybe 1520-2020s were US made?

Personally, I don't get too worked up about where stuff is built anymore. You can not buy any tractor today that is 100% built in America. I doubt very much that you ever will again. Parts are sourced from around the globe from the most economical supplier, with the final assembly completed in close proximity to the largest final market. That's been done for a long time, and will no doubt continue. I'd look more at the quality of what is produced rather than where it's assembled. I think there is some debatable quality out there in many smaller tractors too, relative to past designs.... FWIW,

Rod

JD 5003’s are built in India. It's a huge market and India does not allow imports without prohibitive tariffs. So Mother Deere had to build a plant there. 5000, 5000 ten, 5000 twenty 5000 twenty five are assembled in Augusta Georgia. Just like anything manufactured in North America. Parts are sourced from the lowest bidder. When it comes time to open your wallet and pay for 100% US content. You and everybody else walks on past to the "identical but cheaper unit" built in Mexico or China. The 5000 "0 five" are assembled in the US as are the 7000,8000 and 9000. Many a proud owner of a JD 2020, 2355, 6000 etc think they have a US built Deere. Mannheim Germany has been building tractors to export in the US since the at least 1965. Engines built in Saran France. Then some reason if someone has a Mannheim built 2130 or something. Some dingaling will say parts can't be bought for those in the US. Pure untrue baloney. It comes to a surprise to some Americans but there are large businesses and markets outside of the US.
