OK Guys. I had an idea. Tell me how far off base I am.
There is a Milo field on my way to work that has become very contaminated with tall grass with seed heads on it.
Would it be worth 2 passes to cut the seed heads off of the weeds. (They are pretty much higher than the Milo.) Then go back over it to get the crop with just more chaff?
Would doing that eventually remove the weed seeds enough to reduce them?
Just big ideas from a newbe. I'd bet there's someone out there that's done this a couple of times. Thanks in advance.
GT

Is it really just grass? Are you sure it's not seed milo with a polinator? They use adjustable deheaders just a sickle or with mower blades to go along to cut stuff off like that too. If it done went to seed it will just knock it off for harvest but still more grass next time. They use to have to cut it off with those too before the hybrid milos came along. Use to see some around but those machines are in the scrap heap now.

Thanks for responding.
I don't know enough about it. It's up by Royse City on the north side of I-30.
It doesn't look regular enough to be on purpose.

Probably just weeds then. If like here the rains last year and this spring have brought on lots of strange weeds after the drought. The seed milo I was talking about is usually planted in so many rows like 4,6 or 8 and the 2 or 4 rows of pollenator. One of those old topper machines in uncles old junk pile all rusted up and it has a Ford model A engine and trans on it. I hear the milo down by the coast south of here is already at halt during harvest and falling in the mud and now they got this hurricane bringing them more rain. We will be lucky here to get any rain from it.
