My wife's 2000 Caravan with a 3.0 engine has the oil pressure light coming on at an idle after driving for a while. Raising rpm slightly makes it go off. The engine does not "clatter", so I think the problem may be in the sending unit. Anyone have any similar experience ? Also, does anyone know where on the engine the sender is located? Thanks, doorman

Common Dodge problem, change the sending unit, should be right next to the oil filter. If you can get an OE one from Dodge it will be better quality than parts house. I put 3 of them in the wife's over the yrs. If the motor sounds good it probably is good. DAN

I'd say, before you do a lot of looking, change your oil and filter and use a higher viscosity oil. Just sounds like low oil pressure due to it being summer and it's associated heat loads and dirty low viscosity oil. (No offense intended on the dirty part but all our oil gets dirty sooner or later.)

Mark, no offense taken. Oil isn't too dirty , only about 2000 miles on it, but I noticed the last oil change sticker says 10w30 on it. I think I will try 20w50 when I change the oil, and I am also going to change sending unit. Thanks, doorman.

Now you're talking. FYI, I use 15W-40 truck diesel oil (80%)and Mobil 1 15W-50 (20%)in all my stuff except the lawnmower (air cooled) which gets 100% syn. That way I only have to stock 2 oils. Could just stock the truck oil, but the syn has proven it'self so in she goes. 100% syn I think is overkill and expensive.
