How much pressure should a fuel pump on a 1971 Ford 2000 be putting out. Mine seems very weak.

3 psig is a lot. Gravity on water is about 1' height to generate 0.5 psig of pressure. Since gas is lighter it will generate less.

Too much pressure and the carburetor float seal (needle valve) will not be able to stop the flow when the float is at the correct height.

So a gravity feed tractor, with the tank over the engine, and considering the updraft carb is part way down the side of the engine will only develop about 0.5 psig of gas pressure. Not much but that's all it takes.
