Hello, I have a question on a tractor I have a 1975 Ford 3000. my question is directly under the right side of the operators seat and to the left of the lift controls is a small lever about 2-3 inches long. I may sound dumb but what does it control and what is its used for?

That is the position control lever. It switches the lift from position control (up) to draft control (down). In position control the height of the lift arms is determined by the position of the control lever. In draft control, the height of the lift arms can vary automatically depending on the load applied. Draft control is primarily used for plowing while position control is used for mowing, using a dirt blade, etc.
