Shucks!

I didn't think this situation was ever gonna rear it's ugly head, but I'm startin' to wonder if maybe I'm needin' another old tractor?

Things are a movin' and things are a happenin' and I find that swappin' tractors back and forth on some of the machinery is kinda startin’ to be a bit of a pain in the southern exposure.

I'm not actively looking, mind you. But, please don't have the gall to wave a tired old IH 766D in front of me, 'cause wife just might find a legitimate reason to chew me out again. :>)

Allan,

I was just thinking the other day your going to need another loader tractor to clear snow at your house since your H is at the farm. As for a 766D, I looked at one today near Mabel MN. 6000 hrs with new clutch and TA. Looks to have potential but its to far from you. She'd be in my shed if it was'ent all ready full! LOL.

If you are going to be doing a lot of round baling, then a "modern" cab that is quiet and has AC is a must. None of us are getting any younger, and this is your health at stake, as far as all that hay dust goes. Knowing your taste in tractors something like a 886 or 986 would do nicelly. IF you can pitch it to the boss that there is a health issue at stake you might just get to sneak another tractor by her.

Allan Thats sure the way the bigger farmers do here in eastern Nebraska. They jump off one tractor, grab a sandwich and bottle of water or what ever and on the bounce land in the cab of another tractor with a different implement attached. I understand that some of these newer tractors, the operator can"t even see the 3 points arms, or the drawbar hitch point from his seat. And the implements have gotten a lot heavier over the years to horse around by hand when you don"t get backed in right. I can especially see having multiple tractors when doing a lot of spraying. Go out at day lite and mix a tank, and by the time you get it sprayed out, the wind is blowing 30 MPH. So its time to quite spraying and do somthing else. I"ve seen some of these 60 to 70 foot fold up types, and it looks like a weeks work to put one on and get it to working. Yeah I can see why you could use more tractors. I understand that these quick attach frames, I don"t know the propper name, but they go on the 3 point arms, and the implement attaches to them, make things a lot easier to get hooked up and unhooked if you are using 3 point machines. By the way I am not the guy who is signing Delbert. He must be the reason I had to make mine Delbert from Lincoln, to get YT to accept me. So you are dealing with 2 Delberts here. More rubber sounds good to me. Looks like your gonna be doin alot of haying there. Are you sure that ya don't want a cab, perhaps some AC? Its nice being outside listening and watching closer, but the days are alot easier inside. Just a thought....also makes light night plowing easier. Hound

Know the feeling. Been thinking along them lines myself. Was thinking of something else for my loader tractor than the 460 I have. Got to keep the 460 though. And want a size bigger than the 966. Maybe in 86 series. Nice to day dream. (Want a new shop too.)

I am assuming a 766 with the knock.
I have a "take out" 360 out of an IHC 515 wheel loader. Not sure about the crank if it would need to be ground. If you need one, let me know and I will give a look and a measurement.

Ouch!!

Oh Man! Sorry to hear 'bout that.

Guess it is true what they say, check those bearings every 5,000 hours.

What is a crank for that thing gonna run? A thousand? At least she didn't come out thru the side; now that, would have made ya sick!

Ain't it the truth!

The thing that surprises me is that the "strength" is gone.

I used to be a bull and could horse just about anything and everything around as needed; now, I kinda feel like an old steer that just wants to eat and lay in the shade. :>(

Well I share your enthusiasm. I have 7 tractors now and only because I felt like I needed them cause I have the same problem with hookups you mentioned.

Looks like you are moving right along on your new enterprise.

Everything needs to be selfpropelled. When i was farming we had 4 m,s,an H , a 656 and an A john deere. And still could have used another tractor or two.

Allan, I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for a 766 D. I don't think there is ever such a thing as too many tractors.

I don't think the afflication will ever end. My neighbor just down the road is now retired from farming, when he was still going he had enough tractors that he never had to stop and change implements. He simply got off of one tractor and got on the one that had the proper machine attached. He still has all of those tractors except for one. Believe it or not, the one he sold was a 766 D.

Yes Sir,

I know. Finding a good solid 766D is goin' to be somewhat of a challenge.

Your neighbor ol' Sloroll had a sweet 966 that made the auction block, but darnit! It got away before I realized that my “need” was there. :>)

I think Sloroll is on the right track here. Cause if you get Bambi out there killing spiders and lifting heavy stuff, the Missus will be out there in just a little bit and she'll be more help than you can keep up with. Just to show you 60 don't go into 20. Git-er-done careful, Harley
