Got any 86 Ford F250 with some real issues. it won't let me drive it. I have no power going to the fuel pumps, I thought toasted relays, nope. I think the power is not coming out of the main power modual from inside the dash.

Are there any tricks to get around this problem, like boosting the system with juice from some where else ??? or could it be a sensor of some sorts. Im at a lose and out of idea's and to poor to tow it to a repair shop.

Any idea's would be great.

If the other ideas don't work, buy an electric fuel pump, and forget about it.

Lost mine too on Dodge with cummins--twice-- First time I did not have the tool and used a hammer and chisel to tighten the nut, run it ten thousand and lost it again. Second time I made the tool with a piece of three inch drill stem and some quarter inch plate to make the slot bars that go in the slots of the nut. Tightend it down all I could then used a hammer and chisel and gave it a few more whops. Then I used the old nut that got spun off and put it on for a jam nut used the hammer and chisel on it too. There is an outfit in Ft. Worth that has an improved nut over the one that Dodge sells, I used it the second time. Either place you get it they come with red thread locker--use it, lots of it-- First nut I put on took me half a day because of a froze bolt on top of the carrier bearing, finally had to use a dremel to grind it off. Second time took an hour and a half from start to finish. If you go to TDR on the net, they have the parts list and step by step instructions.

Try re-wire from the tail lights to fuel pump
to test run. Did this on a Pontiac 6000. Power from ECM was out as you seem to think
yours is. Don't forget to turn off the lights
when you park it.

My tank selector switch on my 90 F150 fried itself a couple winters ago. Wouldn't work in either position. Easy fix. I had visions of pulling both fuel tanks to change pumps, and those visions were not pleasant ones, as i was 450 miles from home at work, and there is no garage withing 120 miles of there.

Any ideas you get won't mean anything without knowing what engine you have and if it is fuel injected or uses a carburator. Ford had a mis-mash of systems in 85-86-and 87.

if the ignition module is bad,the fuel pump will not work.

Mornin' The last Ford I had that trouble with, was a fusible link between the relay and the pump on the frame. The relay terminals also were corroded when I pulled them to look. HTH fred

This makes sense. If there is no power trace the line until you find it. Has to be the supply or a fuse. Like Martini says run power from some where else to test. Be sure to use a fuse! If you get fuel and no fire then it's the box.

Under the dash on the passenger side there should be a black box device that has a push in button on it. Find it and push the button in if it will latch. It is a device which shuts off fuel in the event of a roll over or accident. (Hit any hard bumps lately)
If the button does not stay in then there is provision where you can put a paper clip in to bypass the system just as a check to see if the device has malfunctioned. ONLY A CHECK. Replace the device if it is defective. Your life could depend on it some day.
I looked at a truck once where the person shorted out with booster cables and the problem went straight to the computer. Have you shorted anything out lately?

I think on a 86 the interia switch is on the drivers side just above and behind the brake pedal.
