I have a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer. This morning, when I got in, the dome light wouldn't go out unless I used the over-ride switch. Also, the radio will usually stay until the door is opened after you turn the engine off, but now the radio quits as soon as the ignition is off. It acts like the door is open, but it is not. I swaped the door switch (the one that activates when you close the door) but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks.

Thanks for the comments, fellas. Turns out there is a switch in the door latch that sometimes sticks and the dome light, security system and radio all are being told the door is open or at least not completely latched, even though it is. I'm told spraying in a good dose of WD-40 will clear it up. Just waiting for the store to open. Thought I had a can on my Oliver 550 but it's empty. Thanks again.

I have a '98 C3500 pickup that was doing the dome light thing for a while. I started to suspect the light switch because I found if I jiggled the headlight switch the dome light would come back on and stay on. Lately it's been behaving itself so I've put that on the back burner.

The part about the radio still working until the door is opened is called "retained accessory power" and is a GM option. My truck doesn't have that option. It's supposed to allow you to use the power windows, too. I don't know why yours would quit working, but I've had experience with certain electronic gizmos acting funny when the battery gets weak. Then all the problems solve themselves when a new battery gets installed. You might have your battery checked.

What's happening isn't right - We have a 200,2001, and a 2002 and none of the radios go off until the door is opened. Dome lites go off when doors are closed. There is a button next to the lite switch which over-rides certain functions, like dome lites, and daytime running lites. Check your owners manual, and see if you can reset the system - several pushes of the button in rapid succession, if I remember right. Might also try taking car to shop where they can get into the computer with a diagnostic tool, they may be able to reset computer.
