From today's Worcester Telegram & Gazette (where I'm the senior computer geek)

"BARRE— Molly Stevens of Carter-Stevens Farm in Barre looks at lightning in the distance as she cultivates a field. The National Weather Service is predicting rain and thunderstorms for tonight."

Find out if she's single, and if she is, could we have a better picture of the tractor?

Matt, How long have you been at the T & G? I was out there in '92 helping Bob Beatty with some things. Maybe we have met. Here in central Illinois we have had some thunder and a little lightning, but hardly any rain in ages. Enjoyed the picture.

Since 2000 -- 5th anniversary coming up either the 1st or 14th of July...I can never remember which! And when the AS/400 programmer retires tomorrow, I'll officially have the longest seniority in the department.

Bob left like '98. I know it was before the NY Times bought us from the SF Chronicle. Just after the Times bought us between golden parachutes and voluntary moves the two IT groups consolidated and had 100% turnover.

Thanks for getting back to me Matt. I know there was a lot of shuffling going on back then. When I'm not digging into old tractors I'm our remaining AS/400 programmer, though we don't really use it much anymore. When the Chronicle sold you folks to the Times they sold us to Pulitzer. A couple weeks ago Pulitzer sold us to Lee Newspapers, which should work out pretty good for us.

Uh,, I think it's time to get off of the tractor!
Why do newspapers always publish people doing dumb things on tractors? Seems like every year there is a pic of someone mowing while holding a toddler on their lap or something.

I have done things just as dumb or dumber, like stay on the tractor, work on a fence, keep right on milking when I have been shocked from the stalles lighting was so close. I was tarping down a trailer once with fescue seed in it, saw a bolt of lighting about 3 miles from where I was, heard on the news that night a girl was killed by that bolt, running from out in her yard into the house.

I was cultivating on the Ollie s77 one year, lightening hit the ground beween me & my uncles place - saw it to the ground. Uncle's place was about 1/2 ile from me.

I still had to drive 1/2 mile home to our place....

Kinda toned my habits after that, but I still stick things out longer than some do. How I'm built I guess.

Looks like it might be time to park the tractor for a while. Heard somewhere that if your close enough to hear thunder your close enough to be struck by lightening. Nice picture.

What a woman! She's no more careless than some idiot golfer out on the course with a putter. Maybe she's on the last row, and headed home. Hard to tell, but you won't find too many like her in CT anymore.

Kinda ironic you said that about the golfer, we had one killed yesterday by lightning. Also had four inmates and two prison guards struck while playing softball. One of the inmates died. I was'nt neccessarily flaming the girl (woman?), just making an obsevation about newspapers printing photos of people on tractors that are'nt very good role models for safety.

I agree. I can't believe the people trashing the poor girl or the situation. If I ran inside everytime there is lightning around here I wouldn't get much done. Might get struck one day, but probably have a better chance walking down to get the mail. lol
