I am currently running straight off the exhaust manifold. I want to put some exhaust system on but not sure which is best. What are your experiences of horizontal vs vertical and straight pipe vs muffler? Does the straight pipe really mean a notciable difference in power? I will be pulling a two bottom plow/disc and brush hog.

Also if you run a strait pipe start looking for a pair of hearing aids at $3,000+ and still not be able to hear and ran mufflers all my life, no pipes, 2 pair of hearing aids and neither pair work and still cannot hear

For the mowing go with the vertical exaust and you can add an extension pipe if it is too close to your face, but DON'T burn up that tractor and the underneeth exaust will burn up your right foot

I like the verticle after market exhausts. If you are mowing, brush hoging, etc, you can get a fire going on that exhaust under the tractor. I"ve read several stories about this happening, and seen one tractor that got burned up this way. Just something you might want to think about a while before you buy a new exhaust.

Those are good points in favor of the vertical exhaust. However, as small as the tractor is, you sit close to the exit point of the vertical exhaust, and wind up with all the noise and exhaust gas in your face from the vertical system.

I've made alot of the underslung (orchard)exhaust systems in stainless for these tractors and others. Patterns have been difficult to get as many of these tractors were converted to top exhausts early in life as most were used for light work such as mowing and raking, fires were a real concern.

Not that I know of, I only had 1 half brother. I did have an Uncle Bill Crum from Pennsylvania, but he's long gone.

On an N stright pipe will not help enough to be worth it, plus your ears will like the muffler. On an N the pipe and muffler should go down the right side under the pedels and out the back.
