I have a barn that is 120 years old...it has a hay unloading system that consists of a pulley, tracks and trolly system with a sling and spears that go under the hay or straw to lift it off the wagon. This is used to lift hay to the haymow. The track is 90 feet long and the rope and sling, pulleys are in place and look good. SOme guy offered $100 for it....I would think is would be worth more? I in Ohio and the barn roof is getting bad.

I would have to agree with Nebraska Cowman about the value. I would not argue with anyone that you have a unique and interesting piece of farming memorabila. I helped unload many a load of loose hay with one of these setups, and then we graduated to baled hay. The grapple fork worked well for bales, but an elevator worked better when we got one.

The problem here is that there is not much practical use for this system in the modern world. It is also not an item that can be taken to an antique farm equipment show and exhibited.

I'd say go for the $100, even though I would love to have one if I had a suitable barn to use it in.

Is he going to remove it from the barn for you? I'd say $100 would be a large plenty.
