Help needed for the computer-challenged. Was looking at the boneyard being auctioned, one at a time, by "Emptypockets" in the Auction section of this board. Most of the pictures came up fine, but a few were the little box with the red X in it. I had always assumed that the red X indicated that there was something about the posting that didn't "jibe" with my computer- but I'm assuming Emptypockets is using the same method of posting all the pics, so why won't they either all come up, or none?

If there is any error in the URL (such as a misspelling, etc) the picture won"t come up. Also, if the URL is for a picture that no longer exists on the web, you will get the red x. I don"t know what emptypockets is doing, but some possibilities for the red x could be that someone mistyped the URL or the picture has been deleted (maybe because that part is now sold?). Just my speculation.

It is all in the flick of the wrist... or should I say eye-fingers-brain-contect. If I pay attention, like I am supposed to, when you load the picture URL from my web page or from a picture host it has to be identical as it appears on the host page... a space, a dash or any variance breaks the link between pages. With YT once the auction is POSTED, you cannot go back in to edit any errors and that is why YT gives you one chance to insure all is right before you hit the POST button. You can ask Kim but she would be hard pressed to edit all the mistakes I do..., so I just bite the bullet, show I am human and let the auction run out without a picture and try to do better next time. I am a lot happier with my own web page now than with picture hosts as I am in full control of the pictures and sometime the host page goes belly up or moves to another URL and you loose all your pics... been there. I think I am getting the task down pat and if you have any questions on picture hosting ask me, I think I have asked them all. You can look at all my inventory at nuumbnuuts.com, have a pile of tractors to load up, manual and all the good little things... there is a link from my web page to YT should the item be on auction on YT, To date I do not do ebay... YT---Way Better!!!
You can always find out where a picture is being hosted by placing your cursor over the picture you are looking at (anywhere on the web)and right click, opens window, right click properties and you will see the URL. Try it on the pic I have posted here... you"ll see.
