Hi You Guys!

Here's the deal. Bought an old tractor and had the local red boys restore it for me from top to bottom, front to back. Many, many months of work; also many many buckaroonies. Okay, so far so good.

Last night I buy this old plow. Went out and measured the stance on the tractor and I've gotta move all for wheels 2" further out. Rears are loaded.

Don't ya think that the red guys should have had the forsight to set the wheel tread for my future endeavours? Do you 'spose I can bill 'em at $0.50 an hour for my feeble labor time?

Now, it looks like I gotta go out and break a sweat. The nerve of these darned red mechanics, anyway! :>)

Ya'll have a good one!

Allan

Hey ya Allan, I was out and about today, and thought about ya out there. Get this. Was headed south on I55 near joliet, minding my own business when I looked up, and there they were. Just comin into sight in the oncoming lane, I saw a new red Chevy pickup, but trailing behind it was orange, and that's what I focused on as it neared. Looked like a freshly restored D15, maybe D17, was a blur. But sitting right on it's tail on the same trailer was bigger, and red. Might've been a 966, maybe a 1066. Was much bigger than the orange, and all flew by me, all fresh. I don't even think that Chevy was a dually, it happened so fast. He missed the last even remotely close to being a rural cutoff before heading 40 or so miles into Chicago with crazy drivers.

I was yellin, "Allan, what are you doing with orange in front of that red? Why are you pullin all that nice iron towards Chicago with that little pickup on that little trailer? Turn off Allan before it's too late, or you're in trouble". Then I remembered, your red pickup was a little older, and I've never heard you mention your orange.

Hope that guy made it.

Mark

Allan: Get a grip on yourself, remember we're over 60 and we just do this for fun. The fun of growing something, the fun of getting dirty, the fun of having missus growl about greasy shirts, the fun of driving the tractor and last but not least the fun of just sitting and looking at the tractor. That last one is getting more popular with me everyday. I think the missus has me convinced on that grease item.

Hey Jim!

I was just thinking, the silly thing is probably gonna draft those 2" anyway. Isn't it?

Going by the tape, right now the furrow wall is right at the inner sidewall.

Mount up the plow and try it out. It might draft the 2". If it does and you are satisfied you wont have to mess with the wheels.

Don't you guys know anything - those plows are made to work ground on the opposite side of the earth from where you presently live!

Thant's why RED is called "International"...

Looks to me like that would rub all the hair off the top of your head, plowing upside down.

After seeing the post about the plow,I wanted to see what the "buy it now" was,but the ad had already been removed..good looking plow, those things just don"t exist round these parts..I guess they are all north of here. Get them red mechanics to come out and move"em for ya for .50 an hour :^) good luck on that one

Hi Tim,

I was gettin' a little frantic because I've been "plow shopping" for quite some time now.

The cheapest I could find was $2500 at a dealer; knew I could find a bargin at a farm sale, but still and all, I'm starting to run out of daylight here.

I paid too darned much at $700, but at least the plow worry is behind me now. Plus, it was located real close by and am gettin' it hauled for a dollar a mile.

Thanks,

Allan

Hey old buddy, how fast do you suppose that old drunk farmer was going when he unhooked that plow upside down like that. Ya gotta admit though, storing them that way, they won"t get the plowshares rusty sitting there. Never thought of it that way. Maybe oughta mention it to dad when I"m up that way. He"s just got a 3-14 for plowing the garden, so it would be easier to turn over. I"ll tell him that"s the way they all do it out in Nebraska. :-) Harley
