We have came across an old all steel machine something i have never seen before one of my family members have had it for years well anyways it seems to be horse drawn and from what i heard we talk to museum in iowa that an kelly, taneyhill, woodruff company in waterloo Iowa had built this thing in late 1800s or early 1900s i can not seem to find that company anywhere maybe im looking in the wrong places anyone ever heard of them? i have this thing under help identify also there is pictures there and i have others if anyone is willing to take a shot at helping me out on what this is. reason for wanting to know is we have had lots of offers to buy but maybe somebody knows somthing we dont not really interested in selling but i guess everything has its price. but would love to know the history of this machine. thanks Jason

Is definately a log arch. was backed over a log...log winched up & away they went.

Horses could last longer with front of log suspended...less damage to the woods. teamster got to ride instead of walk.

Looks like the frame to a very old dirt scoop built by R. G. Letourneau in Stockton CA in the teens or twenties.
He was a genius with almost no education but developed a huge manufacturing company of earthmoving equipment.

Ftrame is same as a grader. Looks like it was modified to be a log arch. Log was suspended between the wheels Big wheels on top worked the winch.Back of log probably drug on the ground

It would be helpful if you had a view from the side. The lengthn of this thing will give a good idea of whether it was for logging or not.

Jason,

It might be for rocks, but I think it's for logs. I have seen some that look like that but were wooden frame that were for logs.

I think the comments on your pix are right. Saw one of these at the show in Baraboo (sp) Wisconsin.
