Bought the tractor from the original owner, has 1600 original hrs. I would like to know the horsepower rating? It also has the snap coupling rear, there is a rod that goes across the back conecting both snap coupler arms together, I was wondering about taking the rod out, if I don't, I will probably bend my 3 pt rod that comes off the tractor, right behind the seat. But wanting some one else with experence to give me ideas before I remove. Thanks Roger

Thanks for your help. I call it a rod, but it could be called a bar. It seems to connect the snap coupler arms together, I guess, to be sure they lift the same time. The rod is 1/2 inch in diameter and about 2ft long. There is a hole that the bar fits through on each snap coupler, and then a bolt and nut secure it in place. I have used the 3pt hitch adaptor with the snap coupler and when use the bush hog, the adjustable arm that mounts to the 3pt bracket just below the seat, if raised to high, will hit this bar and will bend the arm if not careful. So I had thought about taking the bolts out of the bar and removing it totally when using the 3pt. Just wanted to be sure that I wasn"t tearing anything up. Thanks

I"d guess the "rod" is more like 1 1/2" in diameter. One of my D17"s had this on and I removed it because of interference with the hydraulic hoses when the were hooked up. Don"t exactly know what it was for, but haven"t missed it for 25 years.

Thanks Joe in Mo. you are probably right about the 1 1/2in. I didn't have my specs on when I read the tape. I'm going to take mine out also. Roger

The hp should be around 52. I am not familiar with the rod you are refering to, I have never noticed anything like that before
