I've heard that a .22 to the brain bucket or directly into the spine will keep them from spraying. Truth or poetry??

Skunks are nocturnal animals meaning they like the dark.Set up some portable lighting directed under the porch and soon your problem will be gone. The brighter the lights are the better.Leave them on day and night until the critters move out.

Saw this thing on TV where they had skunks under the porch. The put up chicken wire all over with 1 exit. They made the exit hole 1 way by forming a little trap door that only opened out. When the skunks go looking for food, they are not able to get in and then they go away. Seems like it would work.

thought I got rid of my bunch last year but a new clan has moved in

live trap with peanut butter, catch too many cats with fish, make sure trap has flip locks on doors so you can roll trap over to let them out, cover trap with blanket and move it real slow

Remington 870, #6's, 18 1/2 inch open choke barrel good for polack skeet, yell pull and roll trap unside down with long pole

if you shoot them inside trap, 2-3 days before you can go near the trap

Put some moth balls under the porch.

If you kill it on the spot, it'll dump, and... Can setup a cage (they are nocturnal), and walk towards it with a tarp or blanket and chances are it won't spray. Although aren't typically rabid, they do carry rabies. Cover it, take it out, either drown it, or shoot it. Illinois for instance says "drown it or shoot it". Many states don't allow relocating them becaus carry rabies, so gotta kill them, or put up with them.

As a kid, some friends and I caught one by accident in a box trap. We were kids, so clubbed it and knocked it out (may've killed it too, but was long ago). We figured would "de-skunk" it and make a pet of it. Took it home, layed it out on the picnic table, and went into the rear with a pocket knife to "de-skunk" it. It didn't wake up, so probably was already dead. Bad move, we got the gland and ruined the picnic table, our clothes, and... Since was dead (then for sure), we tossed it into the burn barrel with the trash, and burned the whole kit and kaboodle. Worse move, it smoldered for a couple of days. The neighbors within miles were calling the parents and...you can imagine. We were all 7 or 8 at the time and trying to box trap a badger that had denned itself out in one of the corn fields, but got the skunk. A neighbor got the badger for us. Kids...how we lived, our parents will never know.

If you can get to the hole put a hose from a exaust done there and let the car run for about a hour. Make sure the hole is tight and you will never see or smell them.

Live trap, with a can of sardines, 22 bullet to the head. Shotguns and skunks don't mix, one or the other cause a stink.

A .22 right between the running lites will usually put "em down before they can pollute the atmosphere. A 12ga from the rear at 6 feet is another matter. Ask how I know!
