I recently came across an old AC tractor in Brookwood Alabama (noot sure about the year or model but it looks similar to what I have seen here 1940"s or 50"s model I would guess). It"s in pretty bad condition but I was told I could have it for free by simply removing it from the property.

I am a licensed aircraft mechanic but know nothing about antique tractors. Is this a project that is worth restoring or is it just somebodies junk??? Is there any money in a restored tractor or are the salvaged parts worth anything?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
jim

Unless you realy want a tractor I'd pass. you'd put a pile of money in it fixing it up that you never recover. On the other hand there is some salvage value but unless you are willing to spend the time and effort on something you know little about it is going to leave you sour. Now here is my suggestion; find some kid that wants to restore a tractor and help him get it home and encourage the kid all you can. You will save a piece of history from a slow certain death and you will help a boy become a man. Shoot, you might even make a friend!

That's pretty much what I did a couple years ago. This young man, 16 at the time, was already well grounded and knew how to be a man. He and I both learned a lot. Of course I supplied money by the bushel.
