most likely is since most will give 800 to 1000 for a non running tractor just to part it out.

if the trans is bad that is most likely all it is good for. parting out.

here is what he says"
yes we ran it for over a year it ran perfectly we had the steering column rebuilt in april bought a new radiator and put it back together and it hasn't ran the same since. We ran it for 1 day it had lost power and stalled and has been sitting in our field since. I am not a mechanic and I just don't have time to tear it apart. The transmission was always fine just a few gears didn't work but it ran strong. I don't know if when I put it back together i put something back wrong" what do yall think?he now says he will take $800

Well since you have to take the whole hood off to change the radiator he may have the plug wires crossed.

I would worry that he ran it hot because it had a bad radiator and that is why it will not run correctly now.

Take $800 with you and tell him a tractor that does not run to where you can check out the engine and trans is nothing more than scrap iron. Tell him you think it may have been run hot and now needs a engine rebuild.
Offer him $500 and see what he says.

PS. Is it located any where near southern La. It is worth $800 in parts if the sheet metal is not all rusted out and has all its parts. I will take it.

Well if the tranny is good and the tires maybe. If the problems in the tranny NO, the SOS tranny cost a lot to repair.
