Just wondering how many of us keep a photo history of our tractor restorations. I've always done that and it's nice to be able to go back and thumb through dozens of photos of a restoration job. And it's a good thing to have as well when you are selling something, the engine torn down with brand new sleeves etc. in the photo is pretty convincing proof that what you say was done is actually done.

I learned my lesson when I built my HD years ago. I had a picture of the bare frame and a picture of the finished bike. Now I document the process. Handy when it comes to explaining things. Works well for construction projects as well.

I take a lot of pictures also. Ended up buying a good digital camera because the developing costs started to get quite expensive.

I built a display bracket for my WD45 showing various stages, and mount it during threshing shows. Many nice comments about how much work has to be done, especially when you buy a grease bucket tractor.

Yup -
Wife sells Creative Memories scrapbooking stuff. Seems everything we do is a moment to capture for posterity.

MM,

Yes Sir, I did that too. But, I gotta be honest with ya.

When I go back and look at those pictures, it is depressing to see an IH in that kind of shape 'cause both of mine were total junkers when I bought 'em.

I don't mean just a little bit junker, I mean a real lot of junk. I do everything wrong. :>(

Hey Allen,
Nice looking tractors! Just a question out of pure curiosity and probably lack of knowledge. Why did you go away from the black stripe paintjob on the 966? Enlighten me please.

Hi Ol' Bud,

Pure personal preferance. I just don't like the looks of the 'strippers'.

In addition, and the guys are probably gettting tired of hearing it, but I'm fighting my own personal demons in that I want everything back the way it was before I had to sell out back in 1983.

Derned silly, huh? :>(

It all makes sense now in reply to Allan in NE, 05-26-2005 11:17:52
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
How well I understand, as many here do. I can forget names, faces, birthdays, anniversaries, etc., but can tell you every tractor I've ever been on. I had a red and white 86 F150 in mint condition back in the day. I sold it to help put my wife thru college in Fargo. At the time I hauled propane for Ferrelgas out of Moorehead, and I'd see it around town from time to time. It would tear a guy up seeing it. Then one winter I was heading east on hwy 10, and there she was greasy side up in the ditch. I could see the frame was bent up and she was smashed from one end to the other. I went home depressed, told my wife, and she said "good thing we don't own it, huh". Some people will never understand. I suppose it takes those type of people to keep us in line though. The rich "gentleman farmers" opinion of junk is slightly different than us "commoners". Don't let Allan fool you. He's Mr. BANK....
