This is potato country. Potato harvesters are perhaps the best rock picking tools there is. Rather expensive as rock pickers, but as a sideline... We've had farmers using potato diggers of one sort or another for years. Every fall they bring up a bumper crop of rocks. Now if we could just get someone to pay to haul 'em off!

The best way to do it is have to kids throw the rocks into a front end loader. Most machines don't get every rock.
My 2 cents

I guess something like this would gather them in piles, the bigger ones would likely bend something. >Link

@>Link $400 to do an acre and a half that sounds a litte spendy to me. I built a set of trip dump tines for clearing farm fields that fits on the front of my fourwheeler. Fist sized or smaller I don't worry about, the ones I or it can't lift get dragged off with a chain. I've read here that an old set of tire chains makes a good sling for rock dragging. Good Luck, DK

If you go to Home Depot most any where in the U.S. you will be Swamped by Illegals looking for Work. Load up a dozen , Put them to work picking up rocks and you will be finished before Noon.Thats how it Works here in Arizona.

the joys of rock picking. the best way to get rid of them is manual labor. my self {and prombaly most others on this site} have been picking rocks out of fields for many years. my dad labeled me a rock picker at a early age. boy i used to hate that nick name. my dad past away a few years ago, and at my age of 33 i am still pickin rocks. even know i still hate it, i actualy think i enjoy it. if that makes any sence. get them youngins pickin early, they will thank you later on in life.

My dad had 8 rock pickers - all kick started. I hated it when field cultivators first came out the seemed to drag up a new stratus layer every year. We still have a huge pile that hasn't been used as the base for concrete slabs.
