For the love of me I can't figure out how all these guys manage to get scammed on tractors, hauling and parts. I hear people who pay for trucking in advance and get scamnmed. Who does that anyway? And then there are the people who buy parts and tractors that aren't what they expected. I guess what they say is true "A Fool And His Money Is Soon Parted".

I get regular trucking out of Texas and I don't prepay. That's 1450 miles and no prepay.
I don't drop tractors anywhere without cash down. There are no promises, either the cash is there or the tractor doesn't get unloaded. I try to be as honest as I can be. I always look at tractors before I buy them unless I am paying junk prices. Every now and then I do run into some thrify individuals, who no one could please anyway. I guess you guys are more trusting than I am.

hey Jed, i quess you never delt with a lot of people. years ago I tried to trust people and delivered 2 tractors 300 miles with no money down, just their word that they would pay when you got there. When i unloaded them , then its time to play "let make a deal". they pick everthing apart and offer less money. Your now at their mercy, your 300 miles from home, you have no money yet. Either you take their lower offer or you load up and take them back home. I loaded them up and took off. Never again, at least a deposit. if they don't want the tractor , i leave with their deposit and atleast they paid for my fuel and time.....

On the other end of the stick, my truck doesn't leave home unless I have at least of the total fee in advance. It works both ways.

Yep Rusty, that's the same here. I don't need the experience, so the truck stays in the yard till the shipping is paid. Also, if you communicate with your buyers and sellers, you CAN have a good transaction. I bought a $22,000.00 front end track loader off ebay, sight unseen, and it was better than expected, and have been using it in the woods almost every day for a month clearing timber. However, I talked with the seller, and felt comfortable with her and her feedback, and had no qualms about the deal. Works if you put in a little effort. Harley

I think some folks are more trusting in their outlook when dealing with folks they don't know. There is a difference between buying a tractor or part and having it be a bit different then you expected vs having it be totally shot or not as claimed to be at all. One is a difference of interpretation where the other can be deliberate fraud.
