Looking for some advice: I found a Ford 5000 for sale. Guy is asking $5,000 for the tractor. Loader, brush hog and back blade included. Tractor and implements are in good shape. Tractor has been repainted, runs well, no oil leaks (except right cylinger on loader). Tires 50% or greater. Always stored inside. Tractor is a manual transmission. I"m not familiar with Ford tractors. Is this a fair price? Thank you.

Hi Tim,

I would take to heart what Cowman has said. I hate to sound like a cynic, but a new coat of paint can hide a lot of sins. I would make certain that the tractor works as well as you expect, front end is tight, clutch is strong, and hydraulics work properly. Remember that it's not hard to put 3 grand in that engine, if it needs work. That tractor is priced for a quick sale, and with fresh paint, it just brings a bad odour to me. That said, I'll be the first to say I've been wrong before! BTW, the 5000 was a great tractor. If you found a good one, then by all means go for it. Best of luck.

Rod

Sounds like a bargain. Dad bought a new 5000 in 1969 for $5000 cash. Sold it a couple years ago for the same price after using it hard all those years. It was WORN OUT!

In this market thats a steal. Were it close I would almost buy it sight unseen (almost :-)). 5000 with a loader is a premium here, $7500 at least.

Other stuff add $1500 or so and sell quick.

About right or better than all right. "bush hog" from 300 to 800 depending on size and make. If it fits what you need, get it. Most would want that without the loader.
