I am retired and would like to start bush hogging. What is a fair price to charge for bush hog jobs? Do you charge by the acre or by the hour? Thanks for your comments.

Here in Florida, a friend just raised his price to $60 per hour for either mowing or box-blading with his 30 HP tractor. Not sure what he does about travel.

I charge 85 an hour here in Calif for a 6 ft mower. I usually like to charge by the job, because I usually come out ahead. Like someone else said extra charge for first time field. I went through two sets of blades on a first time field I recently did. I still made out ok because I charged a lot for that job. Have fun Stan

I get $100 an hour (plus a 10% fuel surchage, looks like dropping to 8% in a few weeks). 4 hr minimum, windshield time 1 way included (on the clock). 15' batwing/86 hp tractor. Surcharge for one county (they hit one of my co-workers with a heck of a business license fee), 2 counties I wont work in (local regulations too cumbersome).

I get $75/hour for the first 2 hours. $60/hour after that. $1 mile over 15 miles from home for transport cost. (2 hour minimum) That's for a 60 HP tractor with 7' hog. (supposedly, this is a "cheap" area for mowing) I get all the work I want and then some.....

I usually charge $1.oo per Hp per hour off the gauge.(this system will not work for loader work) Set a minimum charge to cover transport. First time out especially mowing you should bill for a thourough exploration of the property to make sure there are no hidden obstacles.
