I have an older Case brush hog or grass cutter. It has no model number that I can find it runs off a PTO and the wheels are 14" car type. My problem is the vertical shaft that holds the blades has a set of bearings and these have worn out to the point that the blades move around enough to where they hit the sides of machine. Are these parts still around? If so where could I get them? Thanks.

Bearings are almost always a standard, stock item. Pull them out, clean 'em up and take them to your local bearing supply house and they should be able to come up with replacements. I've seen some machinery where the bearings are completely gone and the shaft has worn right into the support. If your shaft is worn then you are looking at paying the local machine shop some bucks.

Thank you Jack T. I still have one more problem .What do these bearings look like? The last person to use the machine said he felt the bearings may have fallen out,but I cant see that happening without blades and all falling out.Are the bearings flat like a washer or atype of ball bearing? The tractor we use is a nice old 40ish Ford.It needs help with a few things but Ill worry about that later. Thanks again.

Morning Mike; The bearings in your bushhog are tapered roller bearings. If they are gone[have fallen out]try calling your local case dealer for a line on the parts.Sounds to me like you there is some shaft damage involved given the amount of play you have described.Possibly some bearing housing damage also.Good luck! Kenny
