PTO shaft question

I have PTO shaft with bad bearings in the U joint. I've looked at farm parts catalogs and see that there are a number of different series of PTO parts 6N, 2N, 14N, etc. and all have the same size bore/shaft ranges. I don't see any markings on my shaft. How do I tell what I have so I order the right parts?

There are a couple dozen sizes, and each has at least two variations and then there are metric sizes. Some have retaining rings inside, some are outside. Some have a symmetrical cross, some not. Like said down below, take pieces to the parts store (and some automotive stores have such parts) and compare. They keep a dial or digital caliper on the counter for just such occasions.

The printed catalog from Baum Hydraulics has a good selection of U-joints and repair parts. They do have a web page, I don't know how much is there.

Is there an equipment dealer nearby? If so, just press the bearings and cup out of one yoke and carry the yoke with you; parts man can match you up..... .....

You have to measure the cross and bearing diameter. This determins which series you have.
