I recently purchased a super cheif 1450 with hydro and was wondering what the heck the function of the knob next to the hydro lever is for? It goes directly into the hydro unit doesnt seem to affect speed and onlt turns about half of a turn either way and stops? any other info on this tractor would be appreciated. I just rebuilt the carb and it runs and drives great. also came with 38 inch snowthrower and 3 blade mower deck i think its about a 69 or so kohler 14 hp, bought for 100 dollars.

If you're talking about the wingnut looking thing down next to the frame, it's a disconnect for the transmission. Lets you push the tractor or idle it without worrying about it "walking" away on you. Try pushing the tractor with the engine off. Can't hardly move it. Give the control half a turn and it's much easier to move.
