apparently it is easy to remove the floating axle. I need to get both sides reemed for new bushings. I would much prefer just bring in the axle. Can anyone help explain the removal of it to a rookie. Thanks

I assume you are talking about removing the wide front axle. My TLB is a 4500 Ford and I just finished replacing the two pivot bushings and getting the pins rebuilt. Put some heavy cribbing under the engine to hold up the tractor. On the front side of the pivot is a 3/4 inch bolt. Loosen it, then whack it with a hammer, pushing out the rear pin. Unscrew, whack, etc. until it pops free. Fun part is yet to come- you need to get under the tractor and pound out the front pin from behind. Hard to get a good swing on a long drift pin (I used one inch shaft) because the crankcase gets in the way. I also made a puller out of 3/4 inch redi-bolt, with a capped pipe in the front. Tightened that up and then hammered the drift pin from behind. Had to remove one tie rod to get some work room. Use blocking and a jack under the axle to catch things once you get the tractor weight off of it. Also handy to realign things to reassemble.
