Hello guys, first time post here. This weekend I found what I am told is a 1947 Cub. Its got a strange looking belly mower. The tractor also has white grill not sure if that is standard or not. Its got the standard Hyd. and draw bar too. The owner claims that motor was re-built ten years ago but it never started. He thinks its the timing. The tractor has been in his family for 40 years. The rubber is good, the motor turns over. He offered the tractor to me for $ 1000.00 Does this sound like a fair deal? Thanks for any and all help.

Take it for what's it worth, but I see in the local farm paper there is a..."1950 Farmall Cub with mower and plow, non-running, $650." But, you probably don't want to drive to SD to buy a tractor either.
Anyway, I would think the one you are looking at sounds like a better deal.

Sounds real fair - even if the mower is not in working order. Look in the picture adds, most of them are listed around $1600-$2500 with a belly mower, figure they are taking less, but not one is listed around $1000.

I'm not a cub fan but if it looks good it should be worth that as long as it's not a sickle bar mower ? I wonder if that wierd mower is a mott flail mower,I have seen some on these.

I think a white grill would make it a bit newer, like mid-50s but I'm not sure.

The price seems a bit high for one that doesn't run but they do go for crazy high money...

Running Cubs seem to go for about 2-3 grand. A belly mower new is over 2 grand I think. Hope this helps.
