Looking to buy a box blade for a Jd 720 w/3 point...55 hp.
Will be used to level stones on a new driveway and move dirt, around the farm. I am interested in either a 6 ft or a 7ft. Bothhave the scarifiers. $25 price difference for the 1 foot additional.
What would be the reasons to go smaller or reasons to go larger?

Thanks!

I have a pull-type. In that type, I think bigger is better, because you get a better job of leveling the wider you are - here is my M pulling a 9 footer. The M handles it nicely. third party image
With a 3 point, I would think that you would want it just barely bigger than the wheels. The reason I think this is because if you tilt to one side or another, the farther the blade is out there, the more it's going to dig in. With a pull-type, you don't need to worry about that.

Now, I don't have the scarfs on my box scraper, but I would think that if my M can handle 9 feet, your 720 should easily handle 6 or 7.

Make sure you get one with cat. II hitch so it has half a chance of holding up to a 720 as these tractors at 60HP pull equal to a newer 100 HP one. If you are looking at one at TSC or a cat. I hitch you will tear it up. I would also get one as wide as the outside of your wheels.
