Hello,

My fathers 69 CASE 530 was running fine today, until I decided to throw it in reverse....All of a sudden it appears as though the transmission went. Cant put it in forward, reverse, nothing.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I really dont know much about tracktors, so I would definatly appreciate any help, or advise you could give. Attempted to remove the plate in which the shifter comes though, but it wont fully release. The 4 bolts are removed, but I cannot lift it more then an inch off, something is holding it. I have no idea. Suggestions?

Thank you,

Joe

The cover should lift off. The IT book says so and that is how I remember taking it off on my 530 CK. Whatever broke is probably tangled up in there. Try this, lift cover up most of the way that it will freely lift, prop it there, get a long screwdriver or prybar and make sure the shifter forks are all in neutral. I think that is must in order for the at least one of the forks to clear the other parts. You may have better luck posting on the Case board, maybe you could find someone near by that could give you a hand. Lotta good folks there. You want to have triple range in neutral and maybe have to jack up a rear wheel in order to wiggle the gears and releave any pressure on the gears that may be in mesh. Hope this helps. G.S.
