I"m trying to locate a manual for the 1958-1961 John Deere Crawler, model #440 1C. Does anyone have one they would be willing to copy or sell, or know of a source to purchase one? I will gladly pay for all copying and postage.

Thanks for the help!

Jeff

You can call Deere Service Publications direct at 1-800-522-7448, and order it yourself with a credit card.

If you need and original manual with a correct copywrite date, keep checkinng ebay.

I have called John Deere twice and the reps couldn't find any record of a manual. But I think I had a different phone number, so I will try the one you sent and hopefully, I will have better luck this time.

I'm not familiar with that madel, and I don't know what you'll find out from Deere, but here's a resource. Give Lavoy a call, he'll know!

Thanks for the website link. It looks like a great source for crawler parts.

Have you tried a JD dealer?? Most of the time you can get them there.

I talked to one dealer locally but there is another one in the town next door that I think I will have better luck with. The trouble is getting there during business hours... Being put on hold on the phone seems to take forever and usually ends with no results.

Yep some dealers want your bus and others don't. Also a lot of them want to sell you a new tractor and can care the least about the old iron. The one near me is pretty good, I ordered a manual for a 14T baler from them and its older the what you have.

New certainly isn't always better than some of the old models!

I agree with you I only have old iron as far as tractors and I wouldn't have any thing else
