Is it possible to get a Generator to charge, lets say 15 volts? This is a 12 volt positive ground JD generator. If this is possible how do I go about it.

Thanks BUDD

Yes, but the battery won't like it. Tighten the spring in the voltage regulator for the voltage relay. It should be the unit vibrating when the generator voltage is being regulated. I'm sure its described closer in the JD 4020 service manual.

The battery only needs 14.2 volts. Old SAE standards allowed charging at 15 or more but that high a voltage leads to short battery life.
