Had a perfect day for our annual plow day here in the Northwest yesterday. After a full week of sunshine(yes it does get sunny here contrary to all the rumors) the ground worked up very nice. Had the following out to help turn it over
H Farmall, 340 Farmall, AR John Deere, Allis Chalmers WD45, MM R, MM U, Cockshutt 1650, 77 Oliver Std, 650 Diesel Farmall, Massey Harris 55, MM UTS, Plowed about 30 acres and a great lunch provided by the land owner.Migraine

migraine: I like these plowing events, glad to hear everyone had good time. Plowing and corn planting, two tractor jobs I always enjoyed. They are not boring if you try for excellence.

Ain't that somethin'- what used to be drudgery (at least when done for hours on end) on that era of tractors now sounds like tons of fun! It always was more fun when someone else was going around in the same field, with that many it would be a blast!

6" of fresh show on top of the fields today and still snowing. 1st precipitation since March 27th. About 1/2 the small grains were planted last week with an "early" spring.

It's time to plow tobacco fields here in Ky. A little too wet now but maybe in 2 - 3 days we can plow again. There's just something nice about turning that soil over again and beginning a new hope for a good crop. By mid - May we need to have our fields ready for transplanting the tobacco. That's when the fun really starts and cumulates at harvest time in mid - August. I love the smell of diesel and fresh plowed soil and the solitude of the fields on a beautiful day. I don't envy those city dwellers. It's not for me.

The only thing you'll get to plow around here for today is snow and as wet as it is it will be two weeks before we even think of getting back in the fields. AHHhhhhh SPRING TIME IN OHIO.

vet: Here in SW Ontario just across the lake from a good percentage of the corn is planted. Will say this at least they have a good blanket over it. 6" thick white one.

The massey was pulling 3-14's and the 650 pulling 3-16's both pull type. The 650 probably could outdo the Massey but we try to do a nice job for the land owner so we try to keep from throwing the dirt all over and leaving too big of furrow for the next little guy to fill. One thing was for sure though, the massey with a straight pipe was the loudest tractor there. No wonder the driver had ear plugs in. You could here him over in the next field way down on the other end. Migraine

Thanks for the reply. I had the pleasure of operating a MH55 deisel on summer a long time ago. WE had it on a chisel going over wheat stubble. Well, not a chisel but more like a duckfoot.

For noisy,at the NE state fair in their old tractor display was a Case 500?.What ever replaced the LA. With a Detroit diesel in it. And a cab on it. Now that was supposed to be a noisy tractor.
