I have a Ford 800 but I not sure what year it was made . Is there a serial plate or a date stamped on this style Tractor?

I"m also looking to remove the hood but all these bolts are so rusted I Guess I"ll have to use a grinder to cut off the heads. Is there a better way ? Are these some kinda of special bolts( Very Hard to Break Loose !)

Thanks Ed

There is no serial number tag on a Ford 800. The model number and serial number are stamped (not cast) directly into the transmission housing on a horizontal flat pad below the air cleaner on the left side of the tractor. The model number will probably be either 850 or 860. Below that will be the serial number with diamonds before and after the number. The year of the tractor can be determined from the serial number.

In addition, there are date codes on some of the parts of the tractor. These codes call out the date each particular piece was made. The date the tractor was assembled would of course be after the latest date code you can find. I've found date codes on my 800 on the rear axle trumpets, carburetor brass tag and the top of the radiator. I've hear of a code stamped on the underside of the seat mounting pad but I've never removed my seat to take a look. Also I've heard of date codes on the engine block and head but I've never found them on mine.

The link below will help you find and decode the numbers under the air cleaner.
