My parents have a 1929 mccormick deering tractor in the "back 40" they are looking to get rid of. It has not been run in several years due to the crank starting factor. Would it be worth putting an ad in the paper and trying to sell it?

Depending on where you are I'd buy it in a heart beat. I will never if in my power let any tractor go to China as scrap iron.

Mike,
If the year is 1929, and it has a narrow front, it is a Farmall Regular. Use the menu on the left side of this site and search in "Tractor Photos".
I have seen running but rough Regulars selling for $600 to $1500. Definately worth a couple hundred or more. Good Luck.

Mike,

You bet it is worth something. Don't let the "Iron Matadors" steel it away from you either.

I’m not a collector and can’t put a price on it, but the darned thing is a 1929 model and it was running 5 years ago.

Somebody will jump in here and price it for you.

Just my view,

Allan

You"ll need to get $5 to $7 to cover the cost of an ad in the paper. Or, you could just have told us more about it right here.

I don't know much about em, as if you couldn't tell! It has the double front tire system,(both low to flat) and tall 10'' wide rear tires. The engine is exposed, no cover, but it does not look like that was original equipment anyway. It ran up till 5 yrs ago, when dad could no longer turn the crank to get it started. I guess I was wondering if there was even a market for something like this as an antique or collector item. I would say it is fair to poor condition as far as appearance, but last time it ran it ran well dad says.

You know what you need? You need some place to post a photo of that tractor where all kinds of tractor collectors, restorers, experts and workers will see it. Ideally, such a place would let them give feedback on the photo and let you talk to them. Even better would be such a place that let you do all this for free.

Do such dreams come true?

(Hint: look at the links on the left side of the page)

The value will depend on the model, how complete the tractor is, and location. Is it a tricycle type with the front wheels close together? Does the radiator say McCormick Deering on it? Can you locate a serial # tag? It will have the model and serial number on it. It is a sheet metal tag about 3X5 inches. Good luck.
