I've drained the tank 2 or 3 times, put 2 bottles of heet, 1 bottle of STP gas treatment and 1 bottle of marvel M oil and I still keep haveing water in the sediment bowls. I have even put in a second sediment bowl. 1 at the fuel pump which is stock and one at the bottom of the tank. Any body have any other ideas of how to get the water out. By the way the tank is also flat bottomed so I would have figured that after draining it the water would have been gone but its still there. Thanks for any ideas.

I keep my Jubilee in an un-heated pole barn. The last thing I do before putting her up is fill the tank from our gas tank (same gas I put in our trucks) and put in a couple ounces of Stabil. It will probably be 3 to 5 weeks between tracto days and I have never had trouble with gas using Stabil.

Mr. Old;Here in L.A.we encounter wide ranges of temperatures on an almost daily basis in winter. My 3010 diesel will make quite a lot of water in the fuel tank unless I keep it full.Try filling your tank up after each use and see if that helps any.Good luck!!

First you need to figure out the source of the water. It could be that it's just left over from a batch of bad gas, but it sounds like you may have rainwater getting into the tank. If you run your tractor (is it a tractor?) regularly, there's no way you will get that much condensation. Maybe you need to change fuel suppliers.

You have to remove the tank and dump out all the water and contaminated fuel. Gas line antifreeze will only remove miniscule amounts of water from the tank. If there's more than a few drops of water in the tank, the alcohol will separate from the gasoline and just make matters worse. Once you've cleaned the tank and eliminated the source of your contamination, you should have no more problems.

old: After all that, I'd be starting to look for a new source of gas. We can all get a bit of water once in awhile. My tractors are bad if I happen to leave them half full, especially in times of changing temperatures. Even then, if I drain the bowl couple of times, solves the problem. The water will go to the lowest point, thus even with a flat bottom tank, if you park tractor so tank outlet is low, water should come out.

Another possibility, some tractors have been fitted with a stem from sediment bowl, that protrudes up into tank some. While this may seem like a good idea, it does collect dirt and moisture. I would cut that stem off, so flush with bottom of tank. Problems with that stem up into tank idea are two fold; one tractors rarely run on perfectly smooth surface, thus that layer created on bottom of tank keeps moving, secondly the layer of sludge rusts the bottom of tank.

That idea may work for storage tanks that never move. You can have a tap on the low end for draining off water from time to time. In fact if you have on farm storage, with no provision for draining off water, that could be source of problem. Water is now up to pump stem.

Remember that old slogan on IH fuel caps, " Buy clean fuel and keep it clean. "

Hi Old,

I went to the parts house and bought a $6 sqeeze blub to pump my rototiller tank as it's always getting water in the fuel.

Have you thought about WD40? You can buy it in gallon jugs. I wouldn't be afraid to try it.

Water will mix with alcohol, rubbing, Gordon's, White Lightning, whatever is cheaper. What you're putting in there probably isn't mixing. Once mixed, I would think you could drain it out.
