When a tractor is in a bad fire and burns up,is it unsaveable or with a lot of money and time can it be resurrected?Found a 2020 JD that got hot enough that injector pump melted.Do the engine and transmission castings get warped?Has anyone tried rebuilding a burnout and did it work OK afterwards?

I haven't, but my neighbor did rebuild one. It was a Ford 801D and it burned completely up. The only salvageable parts were the castings, hard metal parts and sheetmetal. Replaced every bearing and seal in it, not to mention a complete motor rebuild. He did have the castings hardness checked. It was was only rebuilt for sentimental reasons, could have bought another tractor for less.

I rebuilt a totally burnt Farmall. Fire destroys everything and all must be replaced. The one I did belonged to my grandpa and I did it for sentimental reasons. If it wasn't for that, the time and money would never justify it.

Quote I had on parts for a 2090 Case burned not nearly as bad as that was over $20,000 in parts alone. This on a $10,000 tractor. Believe Id pass on that one.

If it got hot enough to melt the injection pump, the tractor is pretty much a salvage piece.Start adding up every seal, spring, nylon washer, aluminum part, bearing, gasket sheet metal parts, hoses, radiator, and labor to rebuild every single assembly and you will have 20 times the price of a running tractor. If it burned that bad all that is left salvageable is the castings, probably even the gears have lost their heat treating

A neighbour has a mid 90's, 120 hp mfwd JD tractor frame in his backyard that was burned not too bad.

He was hired to sand blast and repaint it. The fellow ran out of money to finish so the tractor remains there for the bill to be paid.

Been 8 years now and it has started to rust all over again as it is laying on the ground.
