From perusal of the photo ads, it seems
that most sellers are about doubling what
they wanted last Spring. The dealers seem
to have gone completely nuts, looking to make
up their stock-market losses.

Still-useful machinery seems to to have about doubled with the "collectors" stuff
going up even more.

Anybody else notice the trend?

I believe auction prices are actually down on most items. Oh sure there will always be someone who bids a crazy amount on some particular tractor or piece of equipment, but overall prices are down. Some dealers and sellers always start out with a crazy high price, hoping a fool with more money than brains comes along. Every once in a while, just such a person pops up and they want to be in a position to take good advantage of them. Auctions are more where the true market is established, and it"s down overall.

Going by auction prices here in Northern WI, I would have to say prices are dropping for anything over 50 hp, with some exceptions of course

Well that's true here as stated below. With small acerages, folks want the smaller tractors. Larger tractors are disproportionally cheaper here too cause there is not much demand.

When the big boys wear one out they go to their local blue or green (only ones here) dealer and buy em a nu un. Dunno what the dealer does with the old ones cause you don't see them on the lot.

Based on what I've been actually seeing sell prices are off a good 10% on top of a good 25% drop last year except for certain high demand items (JD 4020's for 8n's).

Speaking of... did anybody notice the $10,000 8N in the photo ads. It had a loader and 6 implements. Still used. I have yet to see an 8N worth $10k.

Not only tractors. One person wanted $15.oo each
for a pair of items. Found new $7.oo, for a pair. A lot of people just put a price on a tractor and if there is a sucker they will let it go. When I am DOWN, all I do is go through the listings , by the time i'm through I'm laughing so
much I feel pretty good.

Seems to me that 8n"s and NAA Fords may have dropped a bit in SELLING price the last year or so. That"s good if looking for a useable tractor, bad if selling one. Look at the higher $ tractors on Ebay and you see a whole lot of 0 bids. That is a good indicator.

From my limited view.. Good useable tractors, like JD 4020 going way higher. Older fix-it up, like JD A, Case SC, etc, seems to be a bunch out there. See a lot of 800.00 to 1500.00 ones. Here the "gentleman farmer" types have bought up all the utility types. I'm just mad cause I can't find one cheap. Just missed a Oliver 555. He wanted 4000.00 from me.

I like the Ford (or MF)for the smaller hp utility. So do a lot of other people for obvious reasons. And, since our county (Collin, Texas) has more farms (ha ha.....couple of acres) per capita than any other county in the country, the demand is high and they (we) pay the price.

Prices start with n's in fair shape with a 5' worn out cutter on the back selling easily for $2800 and everything else is up from there.

Now if I wanted to get a red H or M I could buy it for 1/3 the price but who wants one of those for utility work around the place. Not much of anything else around.

A more accurate guage would be what prices these tractors SELL FOR.... You can ASK anything for a tractor, but what will it actually sell for?

Some of these ridiculous priced tractors just keep showing up for sale, week after week.

I'm actually seeing SALES numbers dropping of late in this area.

On the Farmall, tractors page in ebay, there is a nearly new Kubota with loader and bush hog for $4000.00 US. It says it is in Garland Texas, but just last week it was in Kansas, and when I emailed him and asked about it, he is "moved in Milano, Italy with him relations where they live at" You do the math. A $17000 tractor, plus shipping from Wapland, for $4000. I smell a skunk here. Plus he starts it off at $100 with no reserve. SCAMMMMM MMMMM. Harley

I noticed the same Kubota deal. Apparently this scammer hijacks the seller identity of a reputable ebayer, then tries to get you to take a shortcut to email and pay the scammer. He has the same tractor on 2 different ebay listings of U.K. residents. They are 24hr listings. When the U.K. ebay members wake up and check their accounts they are in for a nasty surprise.

Hey Joe, this listing was 1 1/2 hours into a 24 hour listing and ebay pulled it off again. They"re watching this guy. Harley

Hard to believe you wasted your time emailing him, as long as that scam's been around!

I"m old Bob, and that"s all I got is time. Sides that, Allan won"t let me rag him about his horseys anymore without I send him 2 bits every time, Sloroll is getting busy with his airyplanes, Howard is busy selling parts, Rusty better be getting stalks shredded, and Indy has got to be getting the planter greased, so I just don"t have anybody else to aggravate. :-) Harley

If you've got time to kill, come babysit my 5-year-old, so I can get something done! I've had him for three days straight, and I'm just about "questioned out"!
